Our Church and the Good News

Why Digbeth?

In fact our church building is not actually in Digbeth! Our church began in 1938, but before that the Congregational Church in Digbeth had set up a Sunday School in the Pavilion of the sports fields here in Yardley. As more and more people moved out into the newly built housing estates in this area it was decided to form a church here, and the current building was opened in 1959.

Our Purpose

There are all sorts of activities that take place here as you will discover as you look round our website. All of these are important but our main reason for being here is to share the Good News about Jesus Christ and his love for all people in word and action.

What is the Good News?

The Good News is that God loves everyone no matter who they are or what they have done. Everyone is special and precious to God. Jesus died on a cross because he would not back down from telling people about God’s love, and people who felt threatened by this decided they had to shut him up. The Good News is that they couldn’t! Jesus is alive today and through him we can be forgiven for all the things that are wrong in our lives and be given a fresh start.

How can we share the love of Jesus Christ?
